It turns out my father's retina has detached; he just went to see the opthamologist today. He'll have to go in for surgery at U of M Medical Center.
He'll probably start running around (or as close to running as he can manage; sauntering, maybe) with an eye-patch, shouting, "ARRRRRR, me maties!"
The horror, the horror...

Bill the Blogger. That's your pirate name! Arrrrgh! ;-)
Hope your pop has an uneventful and successful surgery! And go get your new glasses and get rid of those headaches! Okay? Those are no fun!

p.s. Did you hear back on the Germany job yet?
Nope, although I should mention that I didn't specifically apply to Germany, but rather to any of the Navy bases. And it's a permenant job posting, from July 24, 2004, to July 24, 2005. And besides, I'm not really qualified yet.
My dad's doing better; they evidently had to pop the eye out and inject an air bubble to support it, and he has to lay on his stomach, inert, for a week.
And I have an appointment to have my eyes checked on Monday.
With all due respect........EWWW! Pop out the eye? Air bubble? Laying on your stomach for a week? Ooooh...poor dad! Hope he's feeling better now!

So i'm driving home on the stupid congested freeway and all of a sudden I have this little thought, "Hey, I wonder how Bill's dad is doing?"
So, how's your dad doing? ;-)
