I had a much better birthday than usual yesterday. Brianna had brought a dulce de leche cake to work without my knowledge, so at lunch they lit that sucker up, and we had it. On Monday, my supervisor is planning to take the two of us out to lunch, to a Columbian restaurant, so that should be good.
When we got home around 8, Dave asked what I wanted to do, and what I really wanted to do was eat. He asked me where, and I said Dave's Bar (that's the name of the bar; Dave does not own a bar), because honestly I haven't had much chance to eat out since I've been down here, and don't know what's around. So Dave made some calls, assembled some of the womenfolk, and we went and had dinner. It was good. Afterward we came back here, and everybody from AmeriCorps managed to show up. Renata had made cookies, and Dave had made brownies. He said he made them from scratch, but he was also not entirely sober at that point, and neither was I, so he might have been lying. The girls from 107 gave me a homemade Gilmore Girls card, and Lacy gave me a copy of the best of the Pixies CD, and a blank CD that she promised she'd use to burn whatever I wanted. Eventually Renata and Dave got into a scuffle, and she chased Dave out of the apartment. He didn't have his keys, and had to knock at my window this morning at 5:30 to be let in, which of course completely scared the shit out of me. Everyone went home by midnight, and, since today was Ray's birthday, he went and got the mail. Inside I had a card and Barnes & Noble gift certificate from my parents, and a card and Target gift card from Julie. I read some Trollope, and went to sleep.
Today, after the AmeriCorps service meeting, I went to the library, where I found a copy of Terry Pratchett's Thud!, so I was very pleased by that: I had figured I would have to buy the book when it came out! It's very good so far. And then I went to Target and got groceries and sundries amounting to $49.96; the gift card was for $50.00. So my consumer mathematics ability seem to be better than I thought.
Some of the girls wanted to go out tonight, and asked me along, but so far our track record with Friday night's out is pretty poor, and since we woke up fairly early this morning, I demured. Usually we seem to be too tired on Friday nights to stay out too late anyways.
And according to the Myers-Briggs test, I am INTJ. I found this out at the AmeriCorps meeting this morning. Apparently Cassie (AKA, "Lucy van Pelt") is my exact opposite, which seemed to surprise no one at all, least of all me.
