...but revenge is going to be so sweet:
ElectionMusique2004
How's that for an entrance, huh? The election year mp3s just keep on coming, and they keep on getting less and less related to anything resembling politics. What's up with that, you may be asking? Indeed, Kemosabe, indeed...
There is a Pet Shop Boy song for all occasions. This one should be fairly self-explanatory, as well as quite amusing. This was a b-side for one of their singles in the mid-90s, and was inspired by Fr. Rolfe's book Hadrian VII, about an English eccentric who is made the Pope. He goes about re-designing the crucifix and acting pretentious. It's a good book, and I highly recommend it. Good single, too; all PSB fans know that the singles are pretty much all littered with gems like this.
I was going to post Pulp's "The Fear", an extraordinarilly creepy song (which admittedly would be quite appropriate for Halloween) that is one of my absolute favorites, but I figured the John Cale song pretty much covered the topic, so I went with this little showtune from the group's Different Class album. It's an anthem, and it's uplifting, and it's vague enough that it can be applied to these circumstances. Now, more than ever.
BTW, I just wanted to point out that you can't save the songs directly by "Save Target as"; you have to go to the webpage, and download from there. Otherwise, you are saving the webpage. And again, these links are most assuredly temporary.
Tomorrow I'll have a funky assortment -- well, a couple -- of tunes.
In the meantime,
have a safe and witchy All Hallow's Eve!
