Various/Sundry

  • Gwenda has played host to a discussion (for the past two weeks) about the episodes of Gilmore Girls. What gets me is that, on the face of it, it's this very light show, and wouldn't seem to benefit from the sort of critical analysis that people have given to, say, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But some really good points have been made, and it suggests to me that, once you get beyond the litany of pop cultural references, it's much deeper than you're initially led to believe. (And I'm not just mentioning it because I contributed to the discussion, either.) Apparently, t-shirts are in order. Although I'd be up for a tattoo, myself.
  • What if Stan Lee wrote the Bible? Find out here. (via Blue Fairlane) Also, BeaucoupKevin has been blessing us with MC Galactus quoting Run DMC, and then redirects us to a faux-cover of Dr. Doom trying to get the remote from his "roommate" (emphasis on the "mate" part -- you can cut the sexual tension with a knife) Namor so he can watch Sex in the City. Word!
  • Apropos of nothing: is the term "my homies" at all related to the french word "hommes"? It occured to me while I was flipping through a dictionary of gay slang: the gays used to use the word "omee" to refer to men, obviously derived from the French.
