Fuse-in

I'm debating whether I should go to the Fuse-in (previously known as the Electronic Music Festival) downtown this weekend. I've never been, in spite of it having been free in the past (they're charging $10 a day now), largely because of laziness. Well, and the fact that I know of no one else that I could go to the damn thing with: Julie might've been an option, before her spine was fused with Mike's. I'll see them tomorrow, and I might slip it into conversation, but somehow I doubt I could cajole them into it, partly because her half-brother is coming to stay with them for the summer, and a lot of their time now is preparation.

I sort of want to go because it's going to be my last chance to (hopefully), and I would like to go at least once. I'd really like to see Carl Craig and Richie Hawtin on Monday, but I may go on Sunday and see Stacy Pullen and Kevin Saunderson on Sunday night. We'll see.

I got a notice from a Delaware library that I can call to schedule an in-person interview before June 2. I am torn, because I certainly do not want to blow my money travelling to Delaware for what amounts to a preliminary interview, but I also don't want to ignore it, lest it be a genuine opportunity. It's hard to tell how many people they are planning on interviewing, or how seriously they looked at my resume. I also don't know whether some kind of accomodation can be made for me. I honestly hate telephone interviews: the inability to know what the person or persons on the other end of the phone are doing is really unnerving. This is particularly true when there are several people doing the interviewing. I picture them holding up drawings of me with my eyes crossed and my tongue hanging out of my mouth, going "Duh!"

Speaking of which, I have to sign up for ALA Chicago soon. I keep putting it off.
