Common People

Nothing on God's green earth can ever make me give a shit about the Michael Jackson trial.

That said...

The woman who released the doves as each charge came back "Not Guilty" really needs to be sterilized and isolated from society. I have a very low regard for Michael Jackson fans in general -- I mean, even if we put aside the various accusations and Jacksonic misadventures, can you name a single song he has recorded since, say 1990? Because I sure as hell can't -- but the look of breathless rapture on Dovewoman's face had all of us at work wondering if she wasn't having a spontaneous orgasm.

My feelings about Wacko pretty much correspond to the sentiments expressed by the great Jarvis Cocker, after his inspired protest of MJ's overweening hubris at a British music awards show:

My actions were a form of protest at the way Michael Jackson sees himself as some kind of Christ-like figure with the power of healing. The music industry allows him to indulge his fantasies because of his wealth and power. People go along with it even though they know it's a bit sick. I just couldn't go along with it anymore.

So in honor (or protest) of Wacko Jacko, go and listen to some Pulp tonight. On the off chance that you don't have any Pulp to listen to, there's a free download here.

By the way, I hate my car. I am never going to buy Ford again. Just so's you know. Good thing I won't be living in Michigan.

Another most excellent post Bill! Yes, MJ. Yawn. And the dove lady? OMG. I couldn't believe it when i saw her on the news. Truth is stranger than fiction.

The sad thing is that the MJ story saturated the media to the point that the news that we now have 1,700 soldiers killed in Iraq was totally bypassed. Score another one for the teflon president.

Truth is certainly stupider than fiction. It's almost like self-satire at that point.

And all these media circuses just make me think that a meteor should hit the earth, and the roaches should take their rightful place as the masters of the universe. Oddly enough, Dubyah makes me feel the exact same way. Coincidence? I think not!

LOL. Yes, very true.

In the same vein is the "Katie Holmes converts to Scientology" story on the "news" the other day. Do we care? I think not.

Now, if Joshua Jackson were converting to Scientology and marrying Tom Cruise, I might care, But Katie Holmes ties for my least favorite Dawson's Creek alum with Mr. Sawson himself.
