Travel Plans

So now I am flying into Atlantic City, renting a car, staying overnight in Philadelphia, for an interview in New Castle, Delaware. I found a cheap fare ($120, roundtrip) into Atlantic City, and figured that it would be an adventure. Hopefully. Fares to Washington, D.C. were even better: a roundtrip ticket was $60. But that would still involve over two hours of driving, so I decided not to. Although I am now thinking that I should go to Washignton one of these days. I want to go back to the Hirshhorn Museum; last time I was there, I was wearing a Boy Scout uniform.

Coincidentally, I received a call from a Virginia library, interested in setting up a first-round interview with me on the same day. I originally thought it was the Fairfax County Library, and told the woman I would be in the area. She sounded skeptical, so I confirmed where the library was. She told me, and I plotted the location in Mapquest, and it turns out that it would be 500 miles to Philadelphia, so I stammered that maybe it would just be better to do the interview over the phone, as she was initially planning to do. I felt like a complete idiot, which isn't all that uncommon.

But two (preliminary) interviews in one day! That's exactly double the total number of (preliminary) interviews I've had since I started this job search in November! And on top of this, there is a couple who saw the house yesterday, who might be very interested in buying it! And I'm all set for the ALA Conference in Chicago!

Two interviews! Congratulations. And yes, if all else fails, its 'an adventure.' Yeah! That's the spirit.

Half full. Glass. You know the drill!
