Well, I'm in Chicago, where it is a toasty 97 degrees. I was glad that I took my mother's Prius instead of driving the Focus without any air conditioning. It took a fair amount of effort to find the place, because I was actually routing to the wrong location. But after a few phone calls I got it straightened out.
Trying to figure out if I should take a taxi to Quimby's, or just drive over there when I leave on Monday. Also debating whether to go to the Gay Pride Parade on Sunday afternoon. We'll see.
I am half-tempted to just veg in my room all night. I know I ought to be networking, but the prospect honestly horrifies me. I do not come from a stock of people known for their networking abilities.

What? You're here? And you're driving a Prius? How cool is that!
We're stupidly going ahead with plans to see a Shakespeare play out at the Morton Arboretum. We'll be wearing shorts, hats, sunscreen, bug juice, and wet bandannas. We're calling it "As You Hike It" because that's what it is, a theater production where everyone hikes around in the woods, stopping for scenes. More information here.
And then afterward we're driving two hybrid cars around the closed loops of the Arboretum, because we're geeky like that.
That sounds great! Or it would, if it were 78 degrees out.
I would join you, but every minute I spend away from the conference, I feel like I'm losing employment opportunities. This should pass once I get there.
I'm hoping to go to the art museum tomorrow, though. I don't know.
Did you make it to the Art Institute? They have a great gift shop which my mother-in-law supports enthusiastically, to my father-in-law's lasting regret.
The production of As You Like It at the Arboretum was fun - about the level of community theater acting, but with street-theater level props (all of which fit in a large garden cart). There was a nice breeze much of the time and it wasn't as hot as I thought it would be, but it was still plenty warm. We changed location (and "hiked") about 10 or 11 times, and found out later that they shortened the route a lot out of consideration of the heat.
You were probably better off trying to make professional connections (and certainly much cooler).
I finally did make it to the Art INstitute. I do love that place. Although the gift shop was closed when I was there.
And the production you saw sounds really neat, and the idea of seeing "Sleepy Hollow" there in the fall sounds really cool, too. Too bad my Prius and I couldn't make it!
