F*CK, F*CK, DOUBLE F*CK

I know that I vowed this before, back when they cancelled "Wonderfalls" after four episodes and aired reruns of "The Swan" in its place, but I am never watching another program on Fox ever again: "The Simpsons" aren't funny enough to justify my patronage anymore. I don't care if it was ratings-challenged (it was also promotion-challenged, and decent-time-slot-challenged): "Arrested Development" should not be cancelled. Last Monday's episodes were a riot, and damn near the highlight of my TV-watching week, right after Jess giving Rory a tongue-lashing on "Gilmore Girls". And seeing Amy Acker again on "Alias".

At least "Seventh Heaven" is getting a mercy killing, as well. That's a silver lining, but not much of one.

In slightly more positive news, I finally got curtains for my windows at the dollar store; the white blinds in the window do very little to keep sunlight out of my room in the morning. I have been told (thrice) that they look very good, although this may just be my comrades trying to be supportive.

With how little TV I'm watching, and with being nearly satiated with reading, I have recently started writing again. The story I'm writing right now includes atheist collectives, pirates, robots, CANADA, an intelligent parrot, a witch trapped in the body of a warlock, and the Oracle of Chicago, but you can call her Tammi. So far, it's pretty random, which is just as it should be. What with my Monday night's now freed from the demon TV, I now have more time to devote to my "art". *sob*

Not much else has happened this weekend. I did buy a copy of Gideon Defoe's "The Pirates! In an Adventure with Ahab"; I enjoyed his first book immensely. Although I hasten to add that my story's pirates were conjured from a whole other discussion -- namely, a conversation I had with my co-workers about Left-Eye from TLC, and her wearing a condom as an eye patch. It had nothing to do with Defoe's books, or with current events: I only found out about the cruise ship thing the next day. I'm just plugged into the zeitgeist, baby!
