Don't it Make My Red State Blue

Yep, I voted today for the first time as a resident in Florida. I am doing my bit to distribute the blue a little more evenly throughout these great United States. There was a bit of a problem when the poll worker accused me of having already voted, at which point I was pulled aside while somebody stood guard at my voting machine, and they spent ten minutes verifying what I figured was the case: that some octogenarian had mistakenly marked me as having already voted when I hadn't. Now, I admit that, having only been registered to vote here for a month, I could have put a little more effort into finding out about the issues so that I would be a knowledgeable voter. But honestly, this is a mid-term election, so the fact that I got out to vote at all should be commended, even if I did so in almost complete ignorance. Look Ma, I've done the least necessary to be able to claim that I've done something! Just call me the Lowest Common Democravoter.

I of course encourage all of you -- OK, so both of you -- who are reading this to go vote as well. Regardless of party affiliation. And be aware that the Presidential Campaign is scheduled to begin right around... Oh, well look at how time flies! It's going to be a long two years. Let's hope that the next Democratic Presidential Candidate doesn't completely blow.

Speaking of which, can someone tell me how to get John Kerry to quit filling my e-mail with spam?

As they said last night at about 11pm on the local NPR affiliate covering the wild 2 party-party free-for-all at the Cook County Building in Chicago where the votes were being tallied, "the campaign for 2008 starts tonight."

Ralph Nader will be clapping his hands with glee at the opportunity to not win yet another presidential election!
