I saw
Fahrenheit 9/11 this weekend; I sort of had the reaction that I expected I would. I have no great love for the Bush administration -- in point of fact, I think they're a bunch of hypocritical liars, accusing anyone who disagrees with them of being "for the terrorists". I sincerely hope that, come November, they get a swift (steel-toed) boot out of office. I have never been for the war in Iraq, and have always felt that our energies should have been directed towards shoring up the struggling democracy in Afghanistan. That said, I really disliked the movie. I am a reasonably informed individual, I listen to NPR, I watch BBC News, I read the New Yorker, I laugh at John Stewart, so virtually none of what Moore had to show was new to me. He engaged in the same sort of tactics that Rush "Flatulent Sphincter of Death" Limbaugh engages in, the glib one liners and supposedly clever sarcasm, and that just drove me up a wall. And, as with Rush, everything Moore does, no matter what he's doing it on, seems to be about himself, Michael Moore: Spokesman for the Underdog
TM.
Speaking of the Beeb, I found this news there:
Mobile phone signals will be jammed in French cinemas and theatres to prevent the devices disturbing the audience.
The French government has backed a move to install equipment to block signals in cinemas, concert halls and theatres.
Emergency phone calls and calls outside the performance area will still be permitted, however.
Lucky devils.
A collection of Oscar Wilde's papers and manuscripts will be auctioned off by Southeby's this month. Apparently, the collection required its own passport to be allowed into the country. (via Moorish Girl)

I'm just random blog-surfing, figured I'd chime in: I agree completely. Michael Moore is stooping to the low, knee-jerk aggroemotional tactics that have been the mainstay of right-wing radio shows for a long time... Anyway, just wanted to say... I AGREE.
I agree on all points, and you're right--Moore's ego runneth over.
That said, have you seen this site, Librarians Against Bush...
