Headed North

I'm flying to Rochester tomorrow morning to have Thanksgiving with my family. It's supposed to be a white Thanksgiving in upstate New York. Hopefully not so white as to leave me stranded in Atlanta; two people have told me stories where they were trapped at that airport for 24 hours because their destination was snowed in. That would truly suck.

Tonight we had a Thanksgiving party at my site, where all the students brought food (empanadas, sweet rice, some really tough pig skin thing that I only ate a little bit of) and music (Spanish-language dance tunes and English-language Christmas music). It was fun, except for the part where everyone was trying to get me to dance. I have no problem dancing normally, but when everyone is paying attention to me, I find it completely impossible. Besides, my approach to dance is pretty random, which is to say spastic, and the halls of my site could not contain my flailing limbs. So I did the least possible to get them off my back, which amounted to getting out from under the table, where I was hiding, and holding the hands of some woman as she did all the dancing. Hey, it did the job!

Then tonight, after "Gilmore Girls", my roommate discovered that we had a corn snake coiled beneath the sofa. We eventually managed to (humanely) herd it outside. I just felt bad for the poor thing, although I wonder how it got in here.

1. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving Bill!

2. So, would you say your dancing skills are a la Elaine in that infamous dancing episode of Seinfeld? ;-)

3. A snake? In the house? Holy Crap Batman.....I do not like green eggs and ham, or snakes!

Glad to hear you're having a great experience down there in Florida! As always, best to you and your family for a happy, healthy holiday!

Cheers!

Not quite that spastic. I just like going crazy dancing, doing everything from the Batusi to square dancing. And I cannot, for the life of me, do any organized dancing, i.e., the Electric Slide, or any sort of line-dancing.

The snake was cute. I miss having pets.
